When it comes to destination wedding venues, the first thing most people think of is the beach. While the majority of the time the couples do get married on the beach, there are so many amazing venues om and off resort properties in so many destinations in Mexico and throughout the Caribbean. Maybe you’re considering a destination wedding, but don’t want to get married on the beach. Well, this is for you. Here are a few of the many options you can choose from…
Chapel @ Hotel Xcaret, Riviera Maya, Mexico[/caption]
If the couple or their family is traditional this is a great alternative. There are plenty of chapels on and off resort properties that perform Catholic ceremonies. Some even have views of the ocean or are over the ocean with the horizon in the distance.
I’ve seen so many lush gardens filled with tropical flowers and gorgeous foliage making it an absolutely stunning area to have a ceremony or reception. Picture string lights, tables, music playing with your family and friends toasting you and your new spouse. These pristine gardens make the perfect setting for evening pictures.
Of course, the infamous beach ceremony, it never gets old. Toes in the sand while exchanging vows with the ocean waves crashing in the background. Most beaches are public, but resorts have specific areas they use for ceremonies to avoid any disruptions. Resorts also include complimentary ceremony beach set-ups too if you guarantee a certain amount of guests or stay a specific length of time.
This is one of my favorite locations for couples to exchange vows. Sky terraces are typically set above the resort overlooking the ocean giving you a 180-degree view of the beach and ocean. More and more resorts are starting to add these because of the incredible views. After the ceremony, your guests can enjoy cocktail hour while you and your new spouse can take photos at sunset before you head to dinner.
Palapa at a Marina
One alternative to an on resort wedding is a marina setting on Maroma Beach in the Riviera Maya. The sand can’t get any whiter or softer – it was once named one of the best beaches in the WORLD. The wedding coordinators will work with every budget and even arrange transportation to and from the resort where the couple and their guests are staying. It is a truly customized wedding experience on a private beach. This venue can hold up 500 guests – making it the ultimate venue for any size really. The skies the limit!
